My Project
At the place called Thevenis in Baneuil, I created my Poitevin goat farm, a rustic breed adapted to the geographical situation: grassy plateau, undergrowth, moors and coombs.
The Poitevin goat makes the most of its natural resources and offers a very cheesy and particularly sweet milk.
I lead my goats with a view to respecting their physiology and health (the Poitevine is very long-lived) with alternative treatments: homeopathy, osteopathy, Bach flowers, flower essences, etc.
I limit the number of births by practising long lactation: lactation can be maintained for 2 years or more, because producing milk continuously (with variations due to the seasons and the light) is less tiring than giving birth to one or more kids every year...
Through their presence in natural environments, they shape the landscape by contributing to the opening up of environments (limiting the risk of fire): this is the return of a varied and abundant flora which favours the return of birds (little owl, grey and spring barnacle, woodlark, etc.) and insects (dung beetle, butterflies, etc.) and also the maintenance of a habitat for the wild rabbit. These actions are possible on a vast territory with few animals where resources are not exhausted and where regeneration is possible...
